The Ripple Effect - Brittany’s Story
When Brittany first entered ChooseWell Communities, she was working hard to rebuild her life—learning how to maintain sobriety while becoming the kind of parent she had always hoped to be.
She had just graduated from VOA, was living in our referral partners’ Seven Counties’ housing, working at Nord’s Bakery, and navigating Family Recovery Court while participating in ChooseWell’s KYnship internship program. Balancing work, parenting, court requirements, and recovery was overwhelming, but Brittany refused to give up.
Due to circumstances out of her control, Brittany’s housing was delayed an additional 3 months, leaving her in an unhealthy relationship. She needed to protect her recovery and her children. But with each setback, Brittany kept moving forward, supported by the encouragement and stability offered through ChooseWell.
Today, Brittany’s family has maintained their own home for several months. Her children are thriving, her bills are on time — often early! — and Brittany shows up for them every day as a sober, present, and determined parent.
The ripples continue to grow. Brittany recently earned her Community Support Associate (CSA) certification, building on her work as an Adult Peer Support Specialist and using her own recovery journey to support others.
Her story is a powerful reminder: when a parent finds stability, the impact ripples outward—to children, families, and the entire community.
