Explore the nearly two miles of trails spread across 80 acres of forest at the Louisville Nature Center. Or, spend time exploring the Sensory Garden, the imaginative Nature Play Area, and the Bird Blind. We'll also have games, live music, and free food and drink - something for the whole family.
The Walk Through the Wild provides a safe, inspirational environment for all ages and “walks” of life. Why Walk Through the Wild?
We invite you to join us for our eighth annual Walk Through the Wild on September 13, 2025. It's a joyful, family-centered gathering at the Louisville Nature Center that honors the brave journey our participants take through early recovery so that their families can thrive in homes free of parental substance misuse.
Due to federal funding shortfalls, the Louisville Metro Housing Authority has placed an indefinite hold on housing subsidies once dedicated to ChooseWell families. At least 19 of our participants—already eligible and ready—have no path to stable housing for themselves and their children. Without it, their hard-won progress is at risk. Our participants are working relentlessly to maintain sobriety, reunify with their children, and rebuild their lives. But no amount of determination can overcome a system that simply has no room.
Thanks to recognition from both city and state opioid abatement funds, our work is gaining momentum, but grant funds are highly restricted and don't support all the critical work it takes to run ChooseWell Communities behind the scenes. That’s why donor support remains essential. Your support fuels the work no grant can cover. It helps us:
