Kim Mascaro Named Volunteer CEO of ChooseWell Communities
ChooseWell Communities (CWC) is honored to announce that Kim Mascaro, a founding board member and long-time advocate for families in recovery, has stepped into the role of Volunteer Chief Executive Officer. This follows her June 2024 retirement from a successful corporate career as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Confluent Health, a healthcare company with more than 8,000 employees.
Mascaro’s transition into full-time, unpaid leadership at ChooseWell reflects not only a commitment to effective stewardship—but a deep and personal devotion to the power of compassion, healing, and community. She brings decades of experience, a servant’s heart, and a belief in the importance of showing up for one another, especially when life is hard.
“Our founding team saw the urgent need to help families—especially young parents of children under five—navigate life in recovery,” said Mascaro. “They didn’t just need treatment; they needed a community that would walk beside them as they worked to sustain sobriety and rebuild their families. Serving those in recovery is not a ‘they’ problem—it’s a ‘we’ problem. I’m serving in this role not only because I can, but because I truly believe that I should, as we are all called to cherish one another through life’s most vulnerable seasons.”
As ChooseWell continues to grow, the organization has become a trusted partner in building recovery-ready communities—earning both local and national recognition through increased grant support and collaborative initiatives.
“We are thrilled that Kim has stepped into this leadership role at such a critical time,” said Whitney Bishop, Chairman of the Board. “The visibility and trust CWC has earned from the community has brought new opportunities—and new responsibilities. Kim’s experience strengthens our leadership bench and enables our Executive Director, LeighAnn Yost, to focus on strategic programming for our participants and their families. Together, they form a powerhouse team devoted to advancing our mission.”
This addition to the executive leadership team marks an important milestone as CWC continues to expand its infrastructure for grant management, development, and long-term sustainability—while remaining grounded in its core mission: to walk with families in recovery, with fierce compassion and enduring hope.
