Partner Spotlight: The Rosewater
A New Chapter: Rosewater & ChooseWell Communities
This spring, ChooseWell Communities began an exciting new partnership with South Louisville Community Ministries centered around the beloved Rosewater Bookstore on South 3rd Street. Through a collaborative agreement, ChooseWell is operating program space within the bookstore to support workforce development, internships, and community programming alongside the retail bookstore itself.
The partnership allows ChooseWell participants to gain hands-on experience in a welcoming neighborhood setting while building the skills and confidence needed for long-term employment. Participants can contribute to bookstore operations, assist customers, manage inventory, and develop workplace habits that translate directly into future job opportunities.
Rosewater also provides office and program space where ChooseWell staff can support participants as they navigate recovery, employment, and parenting. This combination of community space, real work experience, and relational support makes Rosewater an ideal setting for the next step in our workforce development efforts.
Importantly, this partnership reflects ChooseWell’s commitment to creative solutions during a time when housing and workforce systems are under strain. Social enterprises like Rosewater offer a powerful way to create opportunity while strengthening community connections.
Any revenue generated through bookstore operations may also help offset program costs in the future—supporting staffing, supplies, and participant support as the program grows.
The initial partnership runs through June 2026, after which ChooseWell and South Louisville Community Ministries will evaluate the program and explore opportunities for expansion.
