Three of Our Own Hit Major Milestones in UofL Trager Institute's Peer Support Specialist program
ChooseWell Communities is proud to celebrate three of our own who have just scaled important milestones in the University of Louisville Trager Institute's Community Health Worker pipeline.
Amanda Z. (‘20) completed the full two‑year track, logging more than 80 hours of formal instruction, 1,500 hours of supervised clinic and home‑visit practice, and a quality‑improvement capstone before passing Kentucky’s Certified Community Health Worker exam on her first attempt.
Participants Darrelanne O. and Abigail S. finished the program’s first‑year foundations sequence, which covers the state’s eight core competencies and a 300‑hour practicum, earning them recognition as Adult Peer Support Specialists.
These credentials do more than decorate résumés; they change lives. They equip our team to deliver care‑coordination services, lead trauma‑informed parent groups, and offer one‑to‑one coaching rooted in lived experience. Every hour of training sharpens skills that matter to ChooseWell’s vision: preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences, building family resilience, and creating positive pathways for parents in recovery.
Please join us in thanking Amanda, Darrelanne, and Abigail for turning rigorous study into real‑world impact for Jefferson County’s youngest children and those who love them.
